SIZE: 74in x 40in"Tamil Tactics" is a research project exploring Tamil culture through the ritual of eating on a banana leaf. Focusing on cultural context and lived experience, the project uses a foldable, tactile zine to introduce Tamil words, food practices, and the meanings behind the banana leaf tradition. Inspired by iterative, hands-on exploration, the design blends storytelling, language, and design to create a hybrid cultural space—nostalgic for Tamilians and an accessible entry point for those unfamiliar with the culture.
Diverse perspectives enhance design, cultural connection can be fostered through tangible experiences, letting go of rigid expectations enables creativity, and circular research allows ideas to evolve. The zine format is adaptable, offering potential to teach other languages, practices, or rituals.
